Lto the fateful phrase “And the winner is …” this time it was a disappointment for Italy. During the evening of the Golden Globe quieter than ever – without live TV, red carpet, dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles or live streaming, but a simple announcement on social platforms – Paolo Sorrentino had to say goodbye to the coveted award for best foreign film, which he tried to win with his own It was the hand of God.
To win the Golden Globe for this category it was the film by the Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Drive My Car, based on a short story by Haruki Murakami.
But there was one double disappointment for Italy: he was also nominated for the same prize, but in the “animation” category Luca, the Disney Pixar animated film signed by the Italian Enrico Casarosa. The jurors preferred him Encanto, a Disney production with a soundtrack of original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
