The 76-year-old Maastricht singer Frans Theunisz will receive the Gouden Narrenkap this year.
The Limburg Vastelaoves Award is awarded once every four years by the Samewirkende Limburgse Vastelaovesvereniginge (SLV).
Sjeng aon de Geng
The Maastricht resident needs little introduction and has built up an extensive oeuvre over the years. His most famous song is Sjeng aon de Geng† This evergreen is the most successful Limburg-language hit ever in the Mega Top 50.

High distinction
The Gouden Narrenkap is awarded to someone or to a group who, as a resident artist(s), has made a significant contribution to the Limburg mainland over a long period of time.
Gennep
The 17 largest and oldest mainland associations in Limburg are united in the SLV. One of the members takes turns organizing the annual presentation. The Gennep Vastelaovesclup ‘t Bombakkes will organize the party around the presentation of the Golden Narrenkap at the end of November in Gennep. Frans Theunisz receives the Golden Fool’s Cap on November 26.
The Gouden Narrenkap has previously been awarded to, among others, Ummer d’r Neaver, Jan Pollux, Pierre Cnoops, Beppie Kraft, Ger Frenken, Thei & Marij and Wiel Vestjens.
Broken hip
The 76-year-old folk singer ended up in hospital after a fall earlier this year. He broke his hip in the process. He is now back on the podium.
