GodMode: How to Enable God Mode in Windows 11

The secret “God mode” makes Windows 10 really comfortable and offers users all settings at a glance. TECHBOOK shows how you can easily activate it.

GodMode is a useful folder in Microsoft Windows. The name says it all: The folder grants access to around 200 useful Windows functions, all gathered in one place. So put an end to the frustration of searching for any settings. A little more complicated: You have to create this folder first.

How to enable GodMode in Windows

The trick is very simple: simply create a new folder on your desktop (right-click, then “New” and “Folder”). Now enter the following character string as the folder name.

Confirm with the Enter key. The name should now be completely gone and the folder icon should be replaced with the Control Panel icon.

You now have access to the GodMode in Windows by double-clicking. This should look something like this:

The folder now refers to a kind of command center in which a large number of settings are bundled. Here you have direct control over the display, the automatic playback of music and videos, the user accounts or the date and time.

By the way, the GodMode trick not only works in the current Windows versions 11 and 10, but also in Windows 8.1, 8, 7 and Vista. However, what is new in Windows 11 is that the name no longer appears when you create the folder.
