Young Ajax won 4-3 tonight after a blistering football fight at FC Dordrecht. Despite the fact that the only 17-year-old goalkeeper Tom de Graaff received three goals, the born Edam could look back on another strong performance. “I’m enjoying every second so far.”
De Graaff saw Jong Ajax dominate large parts of the match from his position between the posts. “You start well by quickly leading 1-0. But then you unnecessarily concede two goals from a corner,” says the young closing post after the game. Which, especially with the third Dordtse, had no chance. “You can only clap for that third goal. That was really a world goal.”
“I didn’t see it coming last season that this opportunity would come now”
De Graaff left the amateurs of EVC from Edam at the age of ten and joined Ajax’s youth academy. Since then, things have gone fast for the talented goalkeeper. De Graaff: “It is very nice that I can now participate in these matches in professional football. Last season I did not see that this opportunity would come now. It has indeed gone very quickly for me.”
insane match
Young Ajax coach John Heitinga admitted afterwards that he had also enjoyed the football fight in Dordrecht. “For the neutral spectator it was an amazing game to watch. We wanted to get the right people on the ball who could make the difference. That happened and that’s why you score some very nice goals,” said Heitinga.
