With the club since 2019
Hansa Rostock and his goalkeeper Markus Kolke are going into the future together. The 32-year-old captain has extended his expiring contract with the Hanseatic League by three years. The new contract is independent of the league. Kolke moved from Wehen Wiesbaden to Rostock in 2019 and has since played 142 times between the posts for the second division team, which is in danger of relegation – only three keepers have made more appearances for Hansa.
Sporting director Martin Pieckenhagen, who used to be a goalkeeper for the club 118 times, said: “I am very pleased that Markus is now in the jersey for another three years on the successful path we started in the 2019/2020 season of FC Hansa Rostock will continue. Markus has developed into one of the most important pillars of the team. He’s a guy we need in difficult times. He is extremely ambitious, always leads the way and takes responsibility both on the pitch and in the dressing room. His decision to continue serving the Kogge, regardless of the league, is a clear statement for FC Hansa Rostock at this point in the season.”
