After the violent collision and the long interruption, it is now clear: Kevin Müller has carried out a concussion in the game against VfL Bochum.

There are moments in a football game, goals, points and table standards don’t matter. The spectators of the Friday evening game experienced such a moment in the Bundesliga between the 1st FC Heidenheim and VfL Bochum.

Müller remains motionless after duel

Almost 50 minutes were played when Bochum’s Ibrahima Sissoko and Heidenheim’s keeper Kevin Müller went into air-two-fighter after a flank in the penalty area. A duel, as it appears in so many games, only this time with painful consequences. Both crashed into full force and mainly with their heads and the shoulder against each other, especially Müller seemed to be badly drawn by the collision, since he opened on the floor with full force and obviously without consciousness.

So violent that Müller suffered a concussion. This was announced by the 1st FC Heidenheim on Saturday morning and also thanked “expressly with the medical staff” in the arena and the Heidenheim clinic.

Some players immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation on Friday evening, Jan Schöppner and Tim Siersleben hurried and turned the motionless miller into a side location. Bochums Maximilian Wittek also reacted promptly and continuously carried an emergency case onto the pitch. And with one fell swoop it became quiet in the stadium. Everyone was aware: something bad happened here. Numerous paramedics were quickly at the scene and initiated the first measures. A tarpaulin was kept up to block the audience’s gaze to the medical care of the Heidenheim keeper.

Bang for minutes on the square and in the stands

Fortunately, Sissoko, whom it had caught hard, stood again after a few minutes. But Müller had to be treated further. Bange minutes passed, fans of both camps had tears in their eyes in the ranks. And then it got loud again. “Kevin Müller! Kevin Müller,” it echoed through the Heidenheimer Arena. Not only from the home block, but also the Bochum fans voted with full throat and thus expressed their recovery requests to Müller. There were no more opponents here, but only support for the injured goalkeeper.

When Müller was then carried out by the medical emergency services after more than ten minutes with a stretcher, great applause broke up again. Descent battle? It doesn’t matter at that moment. It was all about Kevin Müller’s health.

In the sports show interview after the game there were the first positive signals. “He was gone briefly – but then came back,” said Heidenheim’s coach Frank Schmidt. “He is now in the hospital over over there. I hope and I am sure that he will quickly get back on his feet. It is important that he does not wear anything and quickly recover.” How long Müller will fail is not yet clear.

A relegation duel ends with a tie

For Müller, Frank Feller was substituted, who parried a strong shot from Jakov Medic in the last minute of the 14-minute stoppage time and thus secured the zero. Since Heidenheim could not use his own chances – especially in the final phase of the game – the game ended 0-0. Bochum (22 points) can continue to hope to land on the relegation rank at the end of the season, which Heidenheim is currently filling with 26 points. That evening in Heidenheim everyone hoped that Kevin Müller will be healthy as soon as possible.
