RKC Waalwijk failed to convert the home game against Sc Heerenveen into a win. The Waalwijk team had to settle for a draw when the competition resumed: 0-0.
The goalkeepers played a leading role in this match. Andries Noppert was ‘just’ back under the bar at Heerenveen after his successful World Cup adventure in Qatar. The tall goalkeeper made a good save with his right foot in the 35th minute after a bet by Danish RKC striker Mika Biereth. Noppert hopes to be able to make a transfer in the coming period.
Leading role Vaessen
In the second half it was his colleague Etienne Vaessen who distinguished himself. Sc Heerenveen got better and better and got bigger chances. Vaessen first saved on a bet by Milan van Ewijk. Later he was also attentive to the bets of Mats Köhlert and Anas Tahiri.
Shot against post
RKC could also have won the game. Newcomer Mats Seuntjens shot the ball against the post in the 67th minute. RKC took over Seuntjens from Fortuna Sittard during the winter break, where he had his contract dissolved.
Heerenveen is in eighth place with 24 points after fifteen matches, RKC is ninth with eighteen points.
