1. FC Kaiserslautern picked up three points on Friday evening (21.10.22) thanks to two goals from Terrence Boyd at Hansa Rostock. The previously good keeper Markus Kolke experienced a black evening.
Kaiserslautern took the lead with a header from Terrence Boyd – which, however, required a lot of help from Rostock keeper Markus Kolke (67′). The keeper unhappily let the header slip through his arms, which were actually ready to catch him, and – as a maximum punishment – his spread legs.
Boyd closes the game single-handedly
The second goal for the Palatinate was also scored by Boyd, who was born in Bremen. After a mistake in the home team’s build-up, Boyd grabbed the ball from the halfway line and converted a powerful low shot from twelve yards out.
Hansa with advantages but no goals
Rostock initially had more of the game and Nils Froeling (3rd) and Kai Pröger (12th) had the first good chances. In a battle-focused encounter, FCK then got stronger, Kenny Prince Redondo twice had the lead with a double chance (31st). After the break, Hansa also got off to a better start, Pröger (46′) shot just wide from a long distance. Boyd’s first goal eventually came from practically nowhere.
The Lauterer made a significant leap up in the table of the 2nd Bundesliga and are currently seventh. From 13th place, the hosts have to fear falling in the basement of the tableau because the entire competition will only get involved on Saturday or Sunday.
Kaiserslautern at home against Nuremberg
On the 14th matchday of the second Bundesliga, the promoted team from Kaiserslautern welcomes 1. FC Nürnberg on the Betzenberg (Saturday, October 29th, 2022 at 1 p.m.). At the same time, Rostock is challenged in Regensburg.
