Goalkeeper Alexander Nübel’s adviser rules out FC Bayern’s return

The future of FC Bayern goalkeeper Alexander Nübel is initially in Monaco in the coming season. This was announced by consultant Stephan Backs on the TV channel “Sky”. “If nothing extraordinary happens, Alexander will play in Monaco next season. There is no concrete plan to return to Munich early. Alex plays regularly in Monaco and can develop there,” explained Backs.

It had already been indicated in the past few weeks that Nübel, whose contract on Säbener Straße runs until 2025, and his regular club will not be getting back together, at least in the near future. As the “kicker” reported, those responsible at FC Bayern also realized that the two personal details, Nübel and Manuel Neuer, were no longer compatible. Since the Munich team is already in talks with Neuer, who is considered untouchable, about extending his contract, which is valid until 2023, Nübel’s future has also been decided for the time being. A premature return from the two-year loan to the Monegasques would have been possible due to a clause.

How things will continue for the former Schalke Nübel beyond 2023 remains open. In Monaco he has played 27 games so far this season, keeping eight clean sheets. According to reports, an extension of his working paper is also conceivable for FC Bayern, in which case Nübel can continue to gather match practice elsewhere as long as Neuer is guarding the Munich goal.

With the record champions, however, the question arises as to who will act as number two behind the national goalkeeper in the coming season. The contract of replacement Sven Ulreich expires at the end of the season, and Christian Früchtl is also said to be saying goodbye. According to the “Bild” newspaper, FC Bayern is said to be in contact with Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, and Ortega’s advisors described such reports as speculation.
