Although it didn’t feel like his goal, Mitch Apau’s goal ensured that Telstar left North Brabant with a point. The draw means the seventh game in a row that the team from Velsen-Zuid is unbeaten in the competition.

An excellent range for Telstar. Trainer Mike Snoei told the camera after the game that he was quite proud of his team. “We’ve held up well in this cauldron.”

‘Pride goes a bit too far’
Apau did not want to use the word ‘proud’ afterwards. The 32-year-old Amsterdammer thinks that Telstar should get more out of such a match if it wants to achieve something this season. “I’m happy, but pride goes a bit too far for me.”

In conclusion, the draw in Breda is quite a nice achievement, but it does not yield much for the White Lions in the ranking. Telstar even drops a spot. The Velsenaren are now thirteenth. Next week the troubled ADO Den Haag will come to the IJmond.
