Loreen Bender is Goalscorer of the Month October 2022. Her goal in the jersey of the U-17 women’s national team got the most votes.
2022 is a record year for the goal of the month for German soccer women. This year, Bender is already the third soccer player to prevail in the traditional election and take home the coveted gold medal – and that at just 17 years of age.
Worthy of Janzen’s shot
But Bender scored a last-minute goal to make it 3-3 in the U17 World Cup match against Nigeria. She is almost a bit lucky that her teammate Mathilde Janzen is not nominated for the goal of the month with her soulful long-range shot. But it only hits the bar from 22 meters. The ball rebounds far into the 16, Bender stands correctly, reacts quickly and artistically kicks the ball into the mesh with an overhead kick.
The eleventh goal of the month for German women
Bender received more than 37 percent of all votes for her dream goal, leaving the competition far behind. Second is Jesper Jensen (29 percent) and third is Saschas Marquet (13). Claudio Kammerknecht and Frank Ronstadt took fourth and fifth place with around ten percent each.
Bender’s goal is the eleventh goal of the month for a player in the dress of the German national team. Ursula Lohn shot the first in July 1989.
