‘Glory to Ukraine and its heroes’, West Flemish wants to wake up the world with new hymn

With his composition, Swerts wants to make a stand against the senseless violence in Ukraine. Piet takes in some family members of his wife who have fled in Varsenare. His new hymn was ready in three days and is named after the battle cry ‘Glory to Ukraine and its heroes’. It is an adaptation of existing scores.

Piet’s work will premiere in Ghent tomorrow evening, performed by the Brussels Philharmonic. Renowned foreign orchestras such as that of Haifa in Israel and the Dallas Symphonic will also perform Piet’s arrangement.
