Company portrait
Apple is one of the pioneers in the computer sector and is now a global company with an exceptionally high brand value and excellent product design. The company initially occupied a niche in the PC market. His strength lies in the areas of education and creative solutions. Apple uses its brand strength and technical know-how as a basis to penetrate new markets.
In the beginning there was also music in digital format that could be distributed and played via the iPod MP3 player and iTunes software. The iPhone, which was launched on the market in 2007, is considered the prototype of today’s smartphones, which, in addition to telephony, also boast office functions and multimedia services and are increasingly displacing classic telephones and handsets. With impressive sales figures, this device has long since become the most important product for Apple. This was later joined by the iPad, which founded a new market worldwide (namely for tablet PCs). The business model is rounded off with increasingly important services (music, app sales, Apple Pay, etc.).
In the 2022/2023 financial year, the company achieved sales of $383.3 billion (previous year: $394.3 billion). The profit (net income) generated was $97.0 billion (previous year: $99.8 billion). Apple generated 42.4 percent of consolidated sales in the Americas region, 35.5 percent in the countries in Asia/Pacific, 16.65 percent in Europe and 5.5 percent in Africa/Middle East.
