Glennis Grace will probably never fully recover from her misconduct in the Jumbo. As a celebrity, you cannot afford such a mistake and you have to come from a very good background to correct it. Unfortunately for Glennis, she doesn’t really succeed; she now spends her evenings in one of those dinner shows, full of people eating around her.
Silent Glennis
A number of those dinner shows have already been completed and how is Glennis being received? Is that woman being booed? “She does that a bit in the shelter, I believe, right?”, notes Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden in the podcast Strictly Private.
His colleague Evert Santegoeds, editor-in-chief of Privé, said: “Yes, very strange. She has returned to the stage at Frank Wentink’s dinner shows without making any publicity about it. She has already had a few and a conscious decision was made not to have the first one accompanied by a big party.”
No boos
It went well, Evert knows. “There is no booing, there are no incidents, there is actually nothing to notice and she sings like the stars of heaven, so that is not the problem. The fact that she was tense about it is evident from the fact that it was not done in the company of the press and so on.”
Not everyone at that dinner show is equally happy with Glennis, he knows. “Something happened behind the scenes, because Marc Forno, the stylist of the entire show, had come up with all kinds of glittery dresses for her, but she didn’t want that.”
Modest
Glennis feared criticism if she were to stand on stage dressed like this, according to Evert. “She wanted to start very modestly, small and eventually build it up so that those glittery dresses will eventually come out of the closet, but not yet at this stage of her performances.”
He concludes: “But she is back at work, the head is off, the audience is very enthusiastic and she delivers value for money, because she sings like a nightingale, says everyone who was there.”
