The Amsterdam Jordaan is trembling, because Glennis Grace and her son Anthony are free again. Mother and son were locked up in the cell for three nights after they stormed into a Jumbo branch with a vigilante group. They were supposed to get out of the police station on Tuesday afternoon around 4 PM, but that became 8:30 PM.

No VIP treatment

What was going on? Reporter Aran Bade in RTL Boulevard: “It took a very long time. We were also very curious what the underlying reason was. Glennis has demanded VIP treatment, VIP treatment for going outside. We have heard that from well-informed sources.”

The police inform Boulevard that Glennis cannot request VIP treatment: “Every suspect is treated the same with us. That’s how we always do it. Of course, different rules apply to victims and minors in a general sense, because we want to protect them against the invasion of their privacy.”

Glennis’ 15-year-old son could therefore be shielded, according to Aran. “Yes, that has also been offered. A separate car. Then Glennis is said to have said: ‘No, I don’t want that. I want to go out with my son.’”

Remarkable behavior

At the police station, Aran noticed annoyance at Glennis’s attitude. “Someone also said there: ‘Then you beat someone up in such a Jumbo and then you demand that you can come out with a kind of VIP treatment.’ She didn’t want to be recognizable. Yes, well, this is the bill you pay when you’ve done something like that.”

He continues: “It just remains remarkable, I think, this behavior. It is the first time since I have worked at Boulevard that I am approached on the street by people who want to have their say about a Dutch celebrity in a negative sense. That actually rarely happens. This is just in line with the behavior Glennis and her son have exhibited.”

Very stupid

John van den Heuvel thinks Glennis is very stupid. “Obviously the dumbest thing you can do in a situation like that is to go to a police station and ask for preferential treatment.”

He continues: “Those officers may have also been fighting in that Jumbo and they have seen all that and talked to victims, and then one of the main suspects asks: ‘Yes, please send me a blinded limousine or car to get on that way to get out of the police station.’ That’s not handy.”

neighborhood happy

Glennis has made it clear with a statement that he has no regrets. Aran: “That disturbs a lot of people, also in the neighbourhood, that she actually says again: ‘I have not committed any criminal offences.’ People who have been there and witnessed it and the boys and girls who work there in that Jumbo have already shown that.”

Local residents are happy with the restraining order for Glennis and son. “They are very happy with the ban that they are no longer allowed to be in that street and that they are no longer allowed to enter that Jumbo. There is no fear, but there is such a thing: we don’t want to be confronted with these people for a while,” says Aran.

Disgusting

The police are still looking for four other suspects from Glennis’ vigilante group. John: “Then you know exactly who they are as Glennis. If you would expect to regret the suffering you caused to victims, then you at least have a moral responsibility to cooperate in the investigation and to make sure that the bottom stone is revealed.”

He finds all those misbehaving celebrities – John also talks about Lil ‘Kleine – to puke. “I think it’s really disgusting. The behavior of people who have to set an example and beat up innocent boys in a supermarket or beat up your wife, it actually makes me sick to my stomach.”
