Glennis Grace lashed out at her former good friend Fred van Leer during her sorry interview with Eva Jinek yesterday. “I don’t understand friends who have distanced themselves from me.”
Glennis Grace’s big sorry interview with Eva Jinek has yielded little news, except that she herself has now confirmed that she has behaved like a terror tokkie in the Jumbo. She states that her cheeky son came home with a ‘bloody face’, after which her mind was taken over by her pounding mother’s heart.
scratch
Glennis also had a photo of that ‘bloody’ face taken to Eva Jinek’s studio. That photo didn’t exactly make her story stronger; her son looked more like a Clearasil commercial, with some childhood pimples and a scratch, than someone who would have been beaten up at the Jumbo.
The whole story in a nutshell: Glennis’ son smoked all over the Jumbo, was kicked out of the supermarket and then tripped over something that caused him to get that scratch. Once at home, he really turned on the story, after which Glennis decided an hour later to get a story at the Jumbo.
vigilante
Initially, they went with four people, says Glennis. She, her boyfriend at the time, her son and his boyfriend. Then where did the other three members of her vigilante group come from? “Did they get a call from any of those other three people you went there with?” asks Eve. Glennis laughing: “Probably so.”
Glennis confirms that she was the first to give one of the Jumbo employees a ‘push in the face’. She had a blackout. Meanwhile, the rest of her thug team was fighting in the Jumbo. “Of course there was a fight, I’m just very honest about that.”
Sneer at Fred
Glennis also complained that everything has been taken so out of context, that the media has made it bigger and that she is disappointed in friends who have dropped her. Sidekick Roelof Hemmen pointed in particular to Fred van Leer, who immediately deleted Glennis from the line-up of his event.
Eva: “Do you understand, Glennis, that your colleagues have distanced themselves from you?”
Glennis: “Ooh… Ehmm… One of them was a good friend of mine. I understand so far, but I don’t understand everything. Let me put it this way.
Eve: “What not?”
Glennis: “I can’t say much about that. I don’t want to piss anyone off or anything. I don’t think this is the place for that.”
‘Do not understand’
Eva: “But you say: ‘I understand that they have distanced themselves from me.’”
Glennis: “No, I said: ‘I understand it and I don’t understand it somehow’, because…”
Eva: “Which part do you understand?”
Glennis: “Well, I do understand the fear of certain colleagues to put me in the show.”
Eva: “That the public wouldn’t come?”
Glennis: “Wouldn’t come… I don’t think that would have happened, but the negativity around everything that happens then does.”
Eva: “Have you discussed this with the people and the friends who have distanced themselves from you?”
Glennis: “Well, I don’t understand friends who have distanced themselves from me.”
No contact
Eva: “Don’t you talk to that anymore?”
Glennis: “They don’t talk to me.”
Eva: “Are there many?”
Glennis: “Not many, but a lot of important people.”
Eva: “And that hasn’t changed in those eight months either?”
Glennis: “No.”
