The two hundred hours of community service that Glennis Grace has been given, she can do in a nursing home full of vulnerable, elderly people. Risky, critics say, because she is still a violent offender. Moreover, it is not effective, Private star journalist Jan Uriot fears.
Aggression training
Jan expresses his concern in the studio of Coffee time. “Glennis Grace now has to make cups of tea in a nursing home. Well, I don’t think that’s a punishment, but okay. It is now a bit of a discussion that is starting to arise whether that lady should not have just entered some sort of trajectory for anti-aggression counseling or something.”
He continues: “Because what will happen after those cups of tea? Then she runs into a supermarket again and then we are still just as far away, of course. That is what is happening at the moment.”
Lesson learned?
Presenter Patrick Martens then: “Don’t you think she’s already learned that lesson a bit?”
Jan: “Well, she lost her job and that is of course a very big punishment. Because it is of course one of the best singers we have in the Netherlands. Maybe she should be guided to do something about the short fuse, right?
Cup of tea
It’s just the wrong route, Jan adds in the section What does Jan think. “Of course you shouldn’t let that woman loose on your old mother. We all agree on that. This is not a punishment for her, making a cup of tea for a woman. She won’t have to wash people. She has already been punished by losing her job.”
He continues: “You can’t hit a singer any better by not giving her any more work. What I think went wrong is that she should have had some kind of aggression management training.”
Short fuse
According to Jan, that is what the judge should have imposed. “From: madam, you have a short fuse, start working on that, we will give you a plan and within six months you will show that you have completed the plan. That’s much better!”
“Now you just let that woman loose in the supermarkets after that retirement home and then things go wrong again! Naturally! That’s in the beast.”
