Due to the devastating fire last Monday in a chicken shed just outside Assen, solar panels have broken. Pieces of glass are therefore entrained with the smoke. They ended up in various places around Geelbroek, Ekehaar and Eleveld. Several people in the area have found pieces.
The Drenthe Safety Region (VRD) therefore warned about the pieces of the solar panels that were carried along with the smoke. “These can be very sharp.” Farmers were urged to keep animals indoors for the time being and not to use crops. It was also advised to clean up the glass with thick gloves and to hand it in as chemical waste. “Soot can be removed with soapy water and gloves.”
On the day of the fire, the VRD issued a map indicating where remains of the solar panels could be found. This week it became clear that the area is larger. For example, the VRD also received a few reports from Ekehaar, about 3.5 kilometers from the barn as the crow flies.
The white dotted line is the area in which, according to the VRD, shards could be located. But sherds have also been found in the area beyond, probably all over this red area.
