On Saturday, August 20, popular singer Ed Sheeran performed for an audience of 50,000 at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. Sheeran’s concert inspired more visitors to propose to their partners while playing love songs.
One of the couples who got engaged at the gig is a fireman Tommy Oksawho proposed to his common-law partner Sandra. The happy couple published pictures of their engagement immediately after the concert.
Oksa’s video shows how he kneels down and completely surprises his common-law partner. This responds with a moved yes to her partner as the audience pictures them and their romantic moment.

Gig suitor
Oksa reveals to Iltalehti that a successful courtship required arrangements on the spot. They had reserved seats in the stands, but Oksa, who got the idea, didn’t want to propose between the cramped rows of seats.
He made Sandra, without noticing, agree with the orderlies that they could get to the permanno for a while. Oksa describes that they were understanding about the situation, even though he had to explain his situation on two occasions.
Oksa’s friend was on vacation and they had agreed that he would film the proposal when the moment came. To Sandra, Oksa said that they are looking for the friend in question and are just going to enjoy the gig near the stage.
– Sandra thought that I wanted to feel the music. I was waiting for a certain song to come on.
The surprise was successful, because the common-law partner couldn’t wait to get the ring on her finger. In his own words, Oksa had hidden the ring box in his man bag, where the diamond ring had been waiting for the right moment since four o’clock.
– It was clear that I proposed at Ed Sheeran’s concert. It was our first joint event where we got to. The experience is one you won’t get again, Oksa reveals.
Happily together
The situation was topped off by the fact that Sheeran sang Oksa’s favorite song during the proposal Give me love and started right from there with Sandra’s favorite Beautiful People.
– I had organized the courtship for so long that I almost forgot what I was doing. It’s amazing how everything was included. Certainly not the Finnish way. You can usually do it here in peace, he laughs.
– It was perfect. Two or three months ago, I had asked Sandra’s father for her hand in marriage. At the end of the evening, Sandra stared at that ring, Oksa adds happily.
The couple has been together for a couple of years. They have a nine-month-old daughter, who was in the care of her godmother so that Oksa could fulfill his proposal at a gig.
At the beginning of the joint trip, Tommy published a picture of the couple, where he introduced Sandra to his followers at the time.
– Meet me, my girlfriend Sandra. Look at him. This person makes my socks spin and my braces pop. I am more than happy at the moment, Oksa commented at the time.
The same atmosphere still continues, but now as an engaged couple.
