Gladbach with Neuhaus in talks about extension: should be “leading player”.

Professional fit again after injury

With a market value of 20 million euros, Florian Neuhaus is one of the top 6 most valuable Bundesliga players with a contract that expires in 2024. However, Borussia Mönchengladbach is working towards keeping the central midfielder, who is currently working on his comeback after a partial rupture of the rear cruciate ligament in his right knee, with the “colts”.

“Sure, we’re in talks. The process has been initiated,” confirmed sports director Roland Virkus of the “picture“ Regarding an extension with the 25-year-old. Both the 56-year-old and coach Daniel Farke are committed to further tying up the German international, who has been active for Gladbach since 2017, only interrupted by a loan to Fortuna Düsseldorf.

According to the report, Neuhaus, who is apparently also thinking about a new challenge, wants to make an extension particularly attractive with the prospect of a future leadership role within the team. “The big change could be that he becomes Borussia’s leading player. At the moment we have an axis with many experienced players, we have to form a new axis in the medium term. Young players are part of that – there could be a new challenge for Flo,” says Virkus. The working papers of captain Lars Stindl (34) and other leading players such as Yann Sommer (33) and Christoph Kramer (31) all end next summer. Goalkeeper Sommer has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Gladbach: Neuhaus fit again for the start of winter preparations

The “foals” start on Tuesday with the first training session to prepare for the rest of the season. Neuhaus will then also be back on the pitch. “Flo will be there. He went through his rehab in a very disciplined manner. When I arrive here at Borussia Park in the morning, Flo will be there half an hour later. Although he is more of an impatient boy who wanted to play again quickly, he did a great job with his program. He is a very important building block for me and a very important player for Borussia,” Virkus continued.

Neuhaus has played 155 games for the team from the Lower Rhine so far, in which he was directly involved in 45 goals. In the past, the shared third most valuable player from Gladbach was associated with FC Bayern, among others.
