Gladbach veteran Patrick Herrmann goes into the Bundesliga classic against FC Bayern Munich with good memories.
The 32-year-old still has fond memories of the start of the second half of the 2011/2012 season in particular. “We won 3-1 back then and I scored two goals. It was one of the best games of my career. I’ll still think about it when I’m 90,” said Herrmann on “web.de News”.
Borussia Mönchengladbach meets Bayern again on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky), against whom Gladbach has mostly looked good in recent years. “For me, the recipe for success against Bayern was always that we were stable on the defensive,” said Herrmann.
Gladbach veteran: “Don’t just put in the back” against FC Bayern
“Just standing in the back is definitely not the right solution against Bayern. But you have to be extremely attentive and narrow the spaces. Once FC Bayern gets rolling, it will be damn difficult,” said Herrmann, who has been since Played for Borussia in 2008.
There will be a reunion with Bayern goalkeeper Yann Sommer, who moved to Munich in winter after eight and a half years in Gladbach.
“Yann is just a world-class goalkeeper. He’s already given us a win or two in the games against Bayern. I just wrote to him this week. He’s really looking forward to playing at Borussia-Park again. We We’re just as excited for him. I spent eight and a half years with him. We’ll see if we know him or he knows us better,” said Herrmann.
