Borussia Mönchengladbach has started preparations for the Bundesliga season under its new coach Daniel Farke.
The Rhinelanders completed their first session on the pitch on Sunday, after the tests for health and performance diagnostics had already taken place in the past few days.
The only new signing of the summer so far, the Danish midfield talent Oscar Fraulo, was there. The 18-year-old came to Gladbach from FC Midtjylland.
The German national player Jonas Hofmann and other players like Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi, Breel Embolo (all Switzerland) and Stefan Lainer (Austria) will only join the team at the training camp at Tegernsee (from July 3rd).
Mönchengladbach will play the first test next Friday at third division club Rot-Weiss Essen, the first competitive game is the DFB Cup opener at Oberliga club SV Oberachern in Baden-Württemberg on July 31. The Bundesliga starts on August 6th against TSG Hoffenheim.
Farke succeeds the Austrian Adi Hütter on the Lower Rhine, who left the club after the disappointing last season. Borussia only reached tenth place, it was the club’s worst performance since relegation in 2011. For Farke, it is the first coaching station in the Bundesliga. In 2017 he moved to Norwich City from the second team at Borussia Dortmund.
