Gladbach starts a new attempt at Honorat: Brest rejects the 2nd offer

Borussia wants to strengthen the squad width

With seven points from the first three games of the season and a safe appearance in the first round of the DFB Cup, Borussia Mönchengladbach got off to a good start in the new season. The offensive came out of the summer break with 15 goals anything but bad, but should be strengthened, especially in width. The Frenchman Franck Honorat, who has been on the list of “foals” for a long time and is now moving back into focus, remains the agreed transfer target.

Noisy “RMC Sports” Gladbach started another attempt for the 26-year-old winger and made another offer to his club Stade Brest. The Ligue 1 club had reportedly rejected the first offer because it did not meet the financial requirements and no agreement was apparently reached on the second attempt either. According to the report, Borussia offered 10 million euros plus bonuses – too little for seventh-placed France, where Honorat is the most valuable player in the squad with a market value of 10 million euros.

Last season, the right-footer, who still has a contract until 2025, scored eleven goals and six assists in 34 appearances. In Gladbach, he should ideally serve as an additional option in the offensive of Daniel Farke, who hardly used his bench on the first few days of the game. In all three Bundesliga games, the starting eleven had to hold out at least until the 84th minute, most recently against Hertha BSC (1-0) even into injury time. Overall, the 45-year-old only used seven of his 15 substitutions, all other coaches in the German upper house made at least 13 substitutions (statistics).
