Gladbach probably has no chance with BVB star

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s mind games to tear away offensive player Giovanni Reyna from Borussia Dortmund are apparently in vain. Allegedly, BVB does not want to give up the 20-year-old American.

“Sky” reporter Marlon Irlbacher writes on Twitter that Reyna’s departure from the black and yellow is “currently not planned”. Instead, the youngster should start preparing normally at BVB after his vacation.

The “Rheinische Post” had previously reported that Gladbach was dealing with a loan transfer from Reyna. A possible commitment of the BVB professional is an “idea” from sports director Roland Virkus and his squad planning team, according to the report in the daily newspaper close to the club.

A major sporting upheaval is imminent on the Lower Rhine this summer. Top performers such as Marcus Thuram, Ramy Bensebaini and Jonas Hofmann have recently left the club. Except for a few perspective players, Borussia itself has not yet become active on the transfer market.

In the person of Manu Koné, Nico Elvedi or Florian Neuhaus, there is even a risk of further departures from key positions.

Giovanni Reyna at BVB only part-time

Reyna, on the other hand, has not had an easy time at BVB.

After a steep ascent, however, injuries kept slowing him down. Last season he only managed 600 Bundesliga minutes for Westphalia, in which he scored seven goals and provided two assists.

“Sport Bild” had recently located the former super talent on an internal strike list. Accordingly, BVB put a price tag of 20 million euros on Reyna.

The right-footed player, who is good at dribbling, moved to Dortmund from the New York City FC youth academy in 2019. A total of 107 competitive games (17 goals, 16 assists) are in his statistics in the BVB jersey.
