Gladbach loses “promising talent”

In 38 games for the Borussia Mönchengladbach youth team, Noah Adedeji-Sternberg scored 13 goals and provided 12 more assists. A strong haul that will probably give the versatile attacking player the opportunity to continue his career at a top Belgian club.

The 18-year-old German-Belgian joins KRC Genk. Those involved confirmed this on Friday. In Genk, the youngster has signed a contract until the summer of 2026, with an option to extend it by another year. Adedeji-Sternberg’s contract on the Lower Rhine would not have expired until 2025.

“In Noah Adedeji-Sternberg we are losing a promising talent, to whom we have shown clear prospects at Borussia. Unfortunately, the player has clearly signaled to us that he does not want to go down this path. Under these conditions, after intensive discussions with KRC Genk Modalities agreed, under which we have now agreed to this change”, Gladbach’s junior boss Mirko Sandmöller regrets the departure of the talent.

Gladbach will probably collect millions

“Noah was at the top of our wish list for the substructure,” explains Genk’s technical youth coordinator Stijn Haeldermans on “krcgenk.be”. “He combines technical skills with a great understanding of the game. In addition, he can ensure more creativity with his individual actions.”

Noah Adedeji-Sternberg stressed that he was looking forward to lacing his shoes for “this great club” in the future.

It is not known how high the fee is that the Belgians are paying to Gladbach. At the end of June, however, “Bild” suspected that around one million euros would change hands. A sum that Borussia would certainly be only too happy to rake in. In addition, there should be a resale participation.

Genk already starts the new season on July 25th. Then you play in the second round of the Champions League qualification at the Swiss club Servette Geneva.
