Gladbach keeper Omlin threatens surgery

Borussia Mönchengladbach has to do without first-choice goalkeeper Jonas Omlin for the time being. The Swiss is again complaining about shoulder problems and is at least not available for the top game against Bayern Munich on Saturday (6.30 p.m. / Sky). An operation by the captain is also not excluded.

“Now we have to find out what the injury looks like in order to then make a good decision as to whether we need to treat it conservatively or have an operation,” said coach Gerardo Seoane on Thursday. Seoane did not reveal who will be in goal against Bayern, Jan Olschowsky, Moritz Nicolas and Tobias Sippel are available.

Omlin has been suffering from shoulder problems for some time, so he had to be substituted at half-time in pre-season against Montpellier. “There are complaints that accompany him. We have to be careful, even with the stresses,” Seoane said recently.

Omlin had conceded seven goals in the first two Bundesliga matchdays. The goalkeeper had not been nominated for the Swiss national team on Wednesday. Julian Weigl will take over the captaincy of Borussia.
