Gladbach escapes a proud million sum

With Yann Sommer, Borussia Mönchengladbach has handed over a top performer to FC Bayern in the past transfer period. Marcus Thuram and Ramy Bensebaini, on the other hand, remain with the Bundesliga club.

There has been a lot of speculation in the past few days and weeks, but in the end there was no transfer. Marcus Thuram and Ramy Bensebaini will play for Borussia Mönchengladbach until the end of the season.

“Both will definitely stay until the summer. We’ll see what happens then,” sporting director Roland Virkus was quoted as saying by “Bild”.

The good news: With Thuram and Bensebaini, head coach Daniel Farke is still two important pillars of the team. The bad news: Both players are only tied to the club until the end of the season. In the end, Gladbach could go away empty-handed.

The market value of the duo is estimated at around 50 million euros. A proud sum that Gladbach could actually use.

Bensebaini on the list at BVB – Thuram is also in demand

On the other hand, Borussia is fighting in the Bundesliga to qualify for international business. The club from the Lower Rhine is currently eighth. Thuram and Bensebaini are set under coach Farke.

Bensebaini should be a particular focus at Borussia Dortmund. BVB could sign the left-back in the summer as the successor to Raphael Guerreiro should the 2016 European champion leave the black and yellow for free.

Thuram has been linked with a move to the Premier League or Serie A in the past. FC Bayern and FC Barcelona have also been mentioned as potential buyers.

In the coming weeks, the two personal details at Gladbach are likely to rest before there is new movement in the transfer market.
