Both Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund are likely to reorganize their squads for the coming season. One pro who could switch sides on this move is Ramy Bensebaini. Gladbach manager Roland Virkus has now commented on the ongoing BVB rumours.
“There is no concrete offer from Borussia Dortmund,” Virkus denied at the matchday press conference on Saturday. His foals meet RB Leipzig in the home game on Monday (8:30 p.m.). Regarding the situation of the courted left-back, Max Eberl’s successor added: “I find it totally normal that he arouses desires and also makes you a little proud, because then we made good decisions. But the fact is: There is no concrete offer from Borussia Dortmund.”
One thing is clear: a transfer from Ramy Bensebaini would bring the Gladbachers income to tackle the necessary squad upheaval. The Algerian is only contractually bound to the club from the Lower Rhine until 2023, a farewell in the summer is considered a likely scenario.
Most recently, it was from “Sport1” that Bensebaini would like to leave Gladbach after a total of three years. An intensive exchange is said to have taken place with the future BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl. Virkus had recently confirmed in “kicker” that a Gladbach professional had expressed his desire to change – without naming a name.
To what extent the path of the 26-year-old actually leads to BVB is therefore still not certain. The Revierklub currently has two options in Raphael Guerreiro and Nico Schulz, although Schulz is likely to be one of the sales candidates in the coming weeks.
FC Barcelona is also said to be interested in Ramy Bensebaini, who, according to media reports, will cost around 20 million euros.
