Gladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt are apparently threatened with a transfer defeat

Setback on the transfer market? Borussia Mönchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt will probably have to reorient themselves when looking for a striker.

As the “kicker” reports, the Gladbachers and the Hessians will probably go away empty-handed in the courtship of Dawid Kownacki from Fortuna Düsseldorf. Instead, the 26-year-old Polish striker is said to be flirting with a move to Union Berlin.

The Köpenickers are “in pole position” in poker, writes the trade magazine. According to Kownacki, the good prospects of fourth-placed Bundesliga players to take part in international competition again should be the main attraction.

In addition to Union, “Sky” recently also linked Gladbach and Eintracht with Kownacki. SC Freiburg and FSV Mainz 05 are also interested.

The “kicker” also reports several concrete offers from the English Premier League and the Italian Serie A.

The island reportedly had an offer for Kownacki back in January. According to “Sky”, FC Brentford was ready to transfer two million euros to Düsseldorf. However, Fortuna refused.

Transfer target from Gladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt to have a free transfer

The fact that Kownacki is free of charge due to his expiring contract in the summer makes him all the more attractive for the numerous applicants for his services.

Düsseldorf initially loaned the attacker from Sampdoria Genoa in January 2019 and then signed him a year later for the club’s record transfer fee of 6.75 million euros.

Kownacki came back stronger last summer from a loan of almost six months to his hometown club Lech Posen. He currently has twelve goals and seven assists in 25 competitive games in 2022/2023.

In total, Kownacki has now played 92 games in all competitions in the Fortuna jersey. He scored 24 times himself and set up 14 goals for his team-mates.
