After winning the stage at the Giro d’Italia, German tour hope Lennard Kämna has a good chance of participating in the Tour de France, which begins on July 1st.
“Lennard is on the long list. The training is going well. He can have hopes,” said Bora-hansgrohe team boss Ralph Denk of the German Press Agency. Kämna had won the mountain finish on Mount Etna in May at the Giro after a strong performance.
Kämna is considered highly talented and a candidate for a top placement in a grand tour in the future. The 25-year-old already won a stage of the Tour de France two years ago. Last year, the former junior world champion also took a break due to mental problems and only returned after almost nine months in February.
Giro seventh Emanuel Buchmann, on the other hand, will definitely not start in France. “Emu will probably do the Vuelta or other races in the fall, but he’s not on the long list,” said Denk.
