Giro: specialists are preparing for a day full of hills, Giacomo Nizzolo does not start | giro

Giacomo Nizzolo is no longer leaving. His team Israel-Premier Tech reports that the Italian sprinter did not feel ‘100 percent’ in the second week of the Giro and did not manage to reach his normal level. On Friday, Nizzolo sprinted to eighth place in the thirteenth stage. That was his third top ten finish after an earlier third and fifth place in the stage result.

“In consultation with Giacomo, it has been decided to take him off course to investigate if there are any underlying problems and to recover with a view to the second half of the season,” the Israel WorldTour team said.

,,I am disappointed that I have to leave the Giro. It’s one of my favorite races and I was very motivated to start it,” said 33-year-old Nizzolo, who won another stage last year and took home the points jersey twice. ,,In the second week I noticed that I didn’t have the right legs. I hope the team gets another good result.”
