Fifty years celebrated on May 7, “I didn’t do anything special: it was Sunday, I was working”, Paolo Savoldelli had no doubts that his fellow countrymen would be the true spectacle of the Giro. “The people of Bergamo never betray, we feel the Giro. And then we had Gimondi, who made the history of this sport”. Coming from someone who has won the Giro d’Italia twice (2002 and 2005) and who has made a piece of history too. Now Paolo helps his partner at the Baita Valle Azzurra restaurant, “we are in Valzurio, a hamlet of Oltressenda Alta, 13 inhabitants, I’m at the till and help in the dining room”.
