In the house where the woman was arrested, Dean Verberckmoes (4) would stay overnight last Wednesday. De K.’s girlfriend is Dutch and made statements during an interrogation that contradict the statements of her boyfriend.
The woman’s statements had also been questioned before. For example, she initially did not tell Dean’s mother last week that De K. had run off with the boy. She claimed the boy was still with her. Only on Saturday did she confess that De K. had taken the boy.
When an investigation was launched into the suspect who disappeared without a trace last weekend, she could not have explained what clothes he was wearing when he left. Therefore, nothing about this could be mentioned in the search message. It turned out later that she knew this.
“She lied to protect De K.,” said mother Elke Verberckmoes earlier. “She did not want her boyfriend to be sent back to prison.”
The girlfriend of De K. will be brought before the investigating judge on Tuesday afternoon.
