The nine-year-old victim was stabbed to death around 6:20 p.m. on Thursday in a quiet street in central Boston, Lincolnshire, in the eastern United Kingdom. Lillia Valutyte was playing with her five-year-old sister in Fountain Lane when she was suddenly attacked by a man with a stabbing weapon. According to British media, this happened just a few meters from a coffee shop where the mother of the pair was working.
On Saturday afternoon, the police announced that a 22-year-old man had been arrested in a park. He is suspected of involvement in the death of Lillia Valutyte and is the only suspect in the case, a police spokesperson emphasized.
The murder sparked outrage across the country, including British Home Secretary Priti Patel’s shock.
