The 17-year-old girl who stabbed 22-year-old Jordy Gruijters to death in Rosmalen at the end of March is being prosecuted for manslaughter and assault. That is what the Public Prosecution Service says. The suspect was released shortly after the stabbing because the Public Prosecution Service assumed severe weather. “But we want to give the court a chance to give a verdict, because we think that is fair to the suspect and relatives,” said press officer Janine Kramer.
Kramer says that the Public Prosecution Service still assumes severe weather. The Public Prosecution Service came to that decision at the end of March after they had seen camera images of the quarrel between Jordy and the suspect. “The images are clear to us. We are still coming to the conclusion that she defended herself and that it was never the intention to kill Jordy.”
Nevertheless, the 17-year-old girl is now being prosecuted for manslaughter. According to Kramer, this is because it is important that the case is presented more broadly than just to the Public Prosecution Service. “So that there is a good judgment,” she explains. “It is important that the court can also look at it.”
Suspect had an argument with sister
The fatal evening was on Saturday 19 March, in the center of Rosmalen. Two girls aged 16 and 17 were sitting on the terrace of the Eetbar. A little further on, Jordy’s sister was sitting with some friends. The sister knew the two girls and during the evening an argument arose between them. Jordy’s pregnant girlfriend was there and was beaten by the 17-year-old suspect. His sister was also beaten. Several witnesses have confirmed this to the Public Prosecution Service. The suspect is therefore also prosecuted for two assaults.
Jordy was called and came to the terrace. There he got into a fight with the two girls. According to the Public Prosecution Service, there was a ‘very aggressive atmosphere’ in which both the suspect and the victim had a part. The 17-year-old suspect was holding a cutlery knife. Jordy was eventually hit in the chest with that. Shortly afterwards Jordy died of his injuries in Grand Café Bottles.
OM assumed emergency weather
The two girls were arrested. A day later, the 16-year-old girl was released, because it had become clear that she had not stabbed. A few days later, the 17-year-old suspect was also released. After viewing camera images of the terrace, the Public Prosecution Service assumed severe weather for the time being. The relatives of Jordy have also seen these images.
According to press officer Janine Kramer, the camera images showed that Jordy physically confronted the two girls, during which the 16-year-old was thrown from her chair. The 17-year-old had grabbed a cutlery knife from the table. “We see him storming onto the terrace. He attacks her and she defends herself. She has her hands up where the knife is. The moment he tries to hit her, he is hit,” said Kramer at the time about the decision of the court. TO. She called the 17-year-old’s response “necessary and appropriate.”
