Ginés González García returns to the Casa Rosada

The former minister of Health Ginés González García go back to the Pink House to be honored for the “work done in the pandemic and its contribution to public health.” This is his first appearance in La Rosada after being removed from his position after the scandal of the “Vip vaccination” that shook the government of Alberto Fernández.

The former official had already made another appearance in October of this year, when he was also honored, this time by the Chair of Health and Community Medicine of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of La Plata.

And in September he received at the ISALUD Universityinstitution of which González García is rector, to the Minister of Health of the City of Buenos Aires, Fernand Quiroson the occasion of a talk that Quirós gave to postgraduate students.

“VIP Vaccination”

In 2021 Ginés González García starred, during the COVID 19 pandemic, in a scandal that from then on became known as the “VIP vaccination”: several people had been vaccinated discretionally, skipping the times and steps that, by sanitary protocol, corresponded to them. (It should be noted that at that time vaccines were very scarce).

The first to denounce it was the writer and intellectual Beatrice Sarlo, on the TN channel, although before that there were rumors of prominent people accessing the vaccine ahead of time. Sarlo had said that he had been offered the vaccine “under the table”; expression from which he later retracted. “I strongly criticize myself, I should not have said under the table,” Sarlo later declared, who modified his statement stating that said offer had been a formal offer, devised by the Doctor of Letters, Soledad Quereilhacwife of the governor of the Buenos Aires province, Axel Kicillofwith the aim of supporting a public campaign in favor of vaccination.

However, shortly after, the journalist horace verbitsky He told on his radio program that he had been vaccinated at the offices of the National Ministry of Health, on the recommendation of González García, whom he called “his old friend.” The impact of the scandal was so great that it forced the request for the resignation of González García, who was replaced by the current Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti.

Then the judge Maria Eugenia Capuchetti (who is currently in charge of the case for the attempted assassination of Cristina Kirchner), filed the case against González García for “absence of crime”. However, Capuchetti’s ruling was appealed, and the Buenos Aires Federal Chamber ordered Capuchetti to reopen the case, albeit partially: only to investigate those vaccinated: 70 government-affiliated officials, and not Ginés.
