In the course of the defamation charges against Gil Ofarim, the singer had closed his social media channels – perhaps because social network users flooded his profiles with hate comments.
Now the 39-year-old has reactivated his profiles on Facebook and Instagram. The most recent post is his one-and-a-half-minute eulogy for the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, recorded about a week ago. “Today is a difficult day for the rock world,” says Ofarim. He immediately links this to advertising for the show “Playlist of my Life”, a show in which he appeared – and which, as he says with a sigh, was recorded in Leipzig on October 4, 2021. “My humble self will come at 12.40 a.m.”. It is unclear whether and how his social media profiles are moderated or managed. In any case, the mostly positive comments can be read, only a few that accuse the musician of advertising his own TV appearances at the expense of a deceased person.
Ofarim speaks of the recording, which took place on a day that had serious consequences for him: that evening he wanted to check in at the Westin Hotel in Leipzig and then recorded his video in which he accused a hotel employee of anti-Semitism. Although Ofarim is accused of defamation and faces a court case, RTL has announced that it will continue to employ him for the television play “The Passion”.
