Is there really no one who can behave normally at the Media Park? Even the good pollster from RTL, Gijs Rademaker, appears to have a lot of things going for him every now and then. When he is asked on the radio whether he sometimes has an outburst of anger, he admits that there has been an incident involving a kicked over trash can.

Trash bin overturned

What happened? Gijs explains The Friday Move: “Yes, I have sometimes become angry when colleagues have said to me: ‘Okay, you shouldn’t have kicked over that trash can.’ They thought that was quite intense. I actually did that.”

He continues: “I honestly – at least according to my own knowledge – did not go further than that. Not really. But then I actually had a conversation about that too. Then I thought: oh, yes.”

Temper tantrum

What was Gijs so angry about? “I can’t even remember that anymore, but I won’t forget that trash can.”

Ridiculous behavior such as kicking over trash cans will no longer be accepted in 2024. Gijs is learning. “I have been a presenter and leader of teams for almost fifteen years. My point is simply that at a certain point you don’t realize how your profile changes and how people interact with you differently.”

A very big star

After all, Gijs has grown into a Very Big Star and that is why, according to him, people treat him differently. “And they react differently to what you say. That’s the hard part.”

He concludes: “I wonder: have I seen the atmosphere correctly over the last ten or fifteen years? So I come from a program that I haven’t seen, EenVandaag. I didn’t experience it there.”
