Gigantic fireplaces (72 m) Harelbeke will be…

“The 72 meter high towers will be dynamited on Sunday, December 10 at 9.45 am sharp,” the city of Harelbeke said. “To ensure that the entire event takes place safely, a safety perimeter of 200 meters is imposed. This means that no public is allowed within a perimeter of 200 meters during the jumping.”

The Leie, the towpaths along both sides of the Leie, the Vaarnewijkstraat and the N36 temporarily close to traffic and the public.

Buildings and businesses within this perimeter are evacuated. The jumping master, together with the client, is responsible for the closure and signaling of the safety zones, in consultation with Harelbeke and the competent services.

From 8.30 am Vaarnewijkstraat and the towpath will be closed.

Shipping on the Leie within the perimeter is also temporarily prohibited. Pleasure boats between the lock and the safety perimeter must be moored at the quay at the Vrijdomkaai.

At 9 o’clock closes the N36 to all traffic, from the copper boiler intersection in Bavikhove to the E3 tunnel in Harelbeke.

A fifteen minutes before ignition a long sound signal will be heard. Just before the explosion, there are two short sound signals. Fifteen minutes after the blasting works, the zone will be cleared again and the safety perimeter will be lifted.”
