After years, the gifted Ramses van Nispen (18) from Roosendaal has found his place at Spirare in Heibloem. But it is different for about 15,000 young people. They are at home because they do not fit into the current education system.
This problem is being brought to national attention this week with the campaign ‘Does not fit!’
Thinking differently
It is expected that many of these young people are gifted and/or highly sensitive. The same goes for Ramses. He picks up things very quickly, only has to see or hear something and can then apply it almost immediately. What is also striking in his childhood is that the Roosendaler thinks in a different way than the other children do. That made his school days difficult.
Loneliness and Depression
Many gifted young people are not allowed or even unable to go to school, because they have a way of developing and learning that the current school system does not match. This often leads to a lot of frustration, loneliness, depression, suicidal thoughts or suicide. Young people then lose confidence in assistance, society and themselves. It appears to be difficult for many of these young people to obtain a diploma or study.
The 18-year-old Ramses has finally found the education that suits him. At Spirare in Heibloem, what Ramses wants is central. We look at what he needs as much as possible. Ramses is therefore almost completely back to his old self after he was deeply depressed.
