Giants coach annoyed by discussion about Daniel Jones

The current injury to Daniel Jones is causing rumors of a changing of the guard to skyrocket around the New York Giants. Head coach Brian Daboll, on the other hand, continues to hold on to his NFL quarterback and reacts increasingly angrily to questions about this.

In Week 5, Jones injured his neck in the game against the Miami Dolphins (16:31). Since then, backup Tyrod Taylor has led the G-Men’s offense. The veteran will also be on the pitch in the “Snoopy Bowl” against the New York Jets on Sunday.

A reporter wanted to know from Giants coach Brian Daboll in a media round whether Taylor would lead the team permanently. A question that was entirely legitimate, but obviously completely undesirable.

“I’m not going into that,” Daboll initially blocked on Wednesday, only to then take a clear stance on Daniel Jones. “I mean, he’s our starter. I don’t know how many times I’ve been asked that, but I’ve said it many times.”

The New York head coach also insisted that Jones will return to the starting lineup as soon as the doctors give him clearance.

NFL: Daniel Jones gives the all-clear after neck injury

How long Jones will be out due to his neck injury is still unclear. However, the quarterback explained on Wednesday that his current injury is not as serious as the neck injury he sustained almost two years ago.

At the time, this setback cost him the last six games of the season. However, he doesn’t expect such a long downtime this time.

“I think if you see other guys that have been in a similar situation to me and have been able to progress and come back, I’m on a similar timeline. And yeah, it’s a different injury than last time,” Jones asserted emphatically.
