A giant statue of Shakira was unveiled on Tuesday in Barranquilla, in northern Colombia. The city is the birthplace of the international pop star, who scored hits with ‘Whenever, Wherever’, ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ and ‘Waka Waka’.
The statue is made of bronze and is 6.5 meters high. It shows a belly dancing Shakira: belly dancing became the trademark of the now 46-year-old Colombian.
Shakira’s parents attended the unveiling of the statue. “It makes me so happy that I can share this with my parents,” the singer said on Instagram.
