“Gianni Vermeersch honorary citizen of Houthulst”

The 29-year-old Klerkenaar won the very first gravel bike World Championship in Italy yesterday. And that was already exuberantly celebrated yesterday with a free barrel from the municipality. But it doesn’t stop there, because Vermeersch also receives the title of honorary citizen of Houthulst. He will drive another gravel race in Italy on Friday, but a date will be set for honorary citizenship as soon as he is back in the country.
