Gianni Vermeersch honorary citizen in Houthulst

Gianni Vermeersch and his family are welcomed by Mayor Joris Hindryckx in the town hall of Houthulst. For this unique occasion, the town hall is packed. Vermeersch is only the third honorary citizen of Houthulst, the first living too, because the other two were posthumous. He carries the church in his heart.

It is not the first time that Gianni Vermeersch has been received in the town hall. The young Gianni was already received here once when he finished fifth at the World Junior Championships in Tabor. Cyclocross was his first passion, but in the meantime he dreams of other things.

After the solemn part, the group moves to the Heuvelhuis in Klerken, which is possibly even more crowded than the town hall.
