Giambruno remains at Mediaset, but leaves the management

According to the network, the journalist did not violate the Code of Ethics. No disciplinary measures against him

Editorial board

Mediaset finally made an official decision on the case Giambruno: the former partner of the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will remain in the editorial coordination of Diary of the day, the daily strip edited by Tg4 that the journalist led together with Elena Tambini and Manuela Boselli. However, will no longer appear on video. The news comes following a period of self-suspension agreed with the company.

what happened

In recent days, Mediaset had started an investigation linked to possible violations of the corporate code of ethics by Andrea Giambruno, following the comments addressed to his colleagues and reported by Striscia La Notizia Thursday 19 October. An avalanche of off-waves that triggered a hornet’s nest of controversy, with phrases like “Can I touch my package while I’m talking to you?” or “You know that me and XYZ (name censored by Striscia La Notizia) are we having an affair? All of Mediaset knows it”. Corriere della Sera reports today that Giambruno will not return to host Diary of the day on Rete 4, while continuing to maintain the program responsibility behind the scenes.

the statement

With a dry press note, Mediaset explained the Solomonic decision thus: “Andrea Giambruno, sorry for the embarrassment and inconvenience created by his behavior, has agreed with the company to leave the conduction on video of the program Diary of the dayfor which he will continue to take care of the editorial coordination”.

Giambruno’s silence

More total confidentiality on the matter, by the person directly involved. Andrea Giambruno preferred not to make any statements in this regard, nor following the news of the end of the relationship with Giorgia Meloni, announced briefly in recent days by the Prime Minister herself through her social channels.
