The suspects were talked out of the car using a so-called BTGV procedure (Approach Technique for Dangerous Suspects), during which officers pulled their firearms. Because it was suspected that there could be explosives in the car, the Explosives Clearance Service Defense was also added. In the end, no explosive was found. The A27 has been closed for a while for research. The car has been towed.

The driveway at Nieuwendijk was closed for an investigation and emergency repair of the crash barrier. It is not yet known why the car was chased.
