A motorist drove a few kilometers on the A76 highway in the night from Thursday to Friday because he was a bit lost.
He later stated this to the police.
Drive towards Aachen
At around 3:20 am, the police received a report of a wrong-way driver on the A76 near Wijnandsrade, after which several units took action. He drove in the direction of Aachen.
Turning on highway A76
In the long run, the motorist drove slowly over the hard shoulder and decided to turn in the middle of the highway. The man took the exit at Nuth, but ignored the police stop sign. Finally, the driver stopped in the middle of the roundabout near Naanhof.
Be aware of no harm
He told the officers that he was a bit lost. But that wasn’t all. The driver did not realize that he was driving against traffic and had turned onto the A76. “This could have gone wrong. We are especially pleased that there were no injuries,” the police wrote on Facebook.
The man has lost his driver’s license and has to pass a driving test.
