Geschke probably in the national team at the Germany Tour at the start

Even though his Cofidis team isn’t taking part in the Deutschland Tour, the local cycling fans probably won’t have to do without Simon Geschke.

“It looks very good that I can ride the Deutschland Tour for the national team,” said the Berliner, who spent a long time in the Tour de France in a mountain jersey. “I’m definitely looking forward to the stage that starts in my adopted home of Freiburg. That’s why it’s one of my highlights this year.”

Geschke was almost the first German to win the mountain classification on the tour. It was only on the last Pyrenees stage that he lost the red dotted jersey to Jonas Vingegaard, who was first overall. Because the Dane was wearing the yellow jersey, Geschke was allowed to wear it to Paris.

The Deutschland Tour takes place from August 24th to 28th. The third stage starts in Freiburg.
