The clothing supplier Gerry Weber International AG has separated from its Russian business. On Tuesday, when asked by FashionUnited, the group confirmed that the Russian regional company had “recently been sold”. “The impact on sales and earnings is manageable for us,” a company spokeswoman said in a statement. Various media had previously reported on the sale.
Deliveries of goods to Ukraine continue
At the same time, the company emphasized that it continues to deliver goods to Ukraine. Deliveries to the country in which Gerry Weber works with franchise partners were “only briefly interrupted in 2022”, the clothing supplier said.
However, Gerry Weber did not announce any news about the planned store closures in Germany. As part of an extensive restructuring program, the group had applied for insolvency proceedings under self-administration for its local retail subsidiary Gerry Weber Retail GmbH almost two weeks ago and announced an “adjustment” to the branch network. The company will “inform you in due course” about specific decisions, but not “before the end of June,” said the clothing supplier.
