Gerry Weber appoints Elena Weege to be responsible for digital technologies

The clothing supplier Gerry Weber International AG wants to advance digitization with a newly created management position. On Tuesday, the company announced the appointment of Elena Weege as Director Digital Fashion Technologies Gerry Weber. According to a statement, she took over the post on September 1 in addition to her role as Director Product for the group brands Taifun and Samoon.

According to the group, Elena Weege is now responsible in her new function for “further developing the topic of digitization holistically and across departments, possibilities and tools for further digitization in the areas of design, cut and fit, digital trade fairs and fashion shows, Order 2.0 and Evaluate Metaverse, Gaming and NFT together in the project team, identify success drivers and push their implementation”.

CEO Angelika Schindler-Obenhaus justified the creation of the new position: “We want to go one step further towards the digital future,” she explained in a statement. “We see great potential, especially in the field of fashion technologies. The topic needs focus, which we are giving it with the implementation of the new function.”

A wide range of tasks is now waiting for Elena Weege, who has been product manager of the Taifun and Samoon labels since June 2020: “I look forward to the interdisciplinary cooperation with the aim of making our company future-proof for this area together. In addition, the double function offers me the opportunity to continue to contribute my creativity and to optimize processes with regard to their efficiency,” she explained in a statement.
